« Eating and exercising are part of the pleasures of life and can help you and your family to stay healthy. By making the right decision the right choice, it can also help protect you from certain diseases.

The National Health and Nutrition Program provides nutritional recommendations entirely compatible with everyday pleasures.

Each food group is essential and has its place on your plate. To ensure a balanced diet, some nutrients should be moderately consumed, while others can be eaten with no limit should be preferred.


How?

- Eat at least 5 fruit and vegetables per day, whether raw, cooked, plain, prepared, fresh, frozen or canned.
- Eat bread and cereal products, potatoes and dried vegetables at each meal according to appetite (with emphasis on whole grain foods).
- Eat three dairy products per day (milk, yogurt, cheese) with emphasis on variety.
- Eat meat, fish (and other fish products) or eggs 1 or 2 times a day alternating; think about eating fish at least twice a week.
- Limit added fats (butter, oil, cream, etc.), and fat products (snack products, morning goods, etc. ...).
- Limit sugar and sugar products (sodas, sugary drinks, sweets, chocolate, pastries, puddings, etc. ...).
- Limit consumption of salt and choose iodized salt where possible.
- Drink a limitless amount of water, during and between meals.
- Do not exceed 2 alcoholic drinks per day for women and 3 alcoholic drinks for men (2 glasses of 10 cl of wine is equivalent to a pint of beer or 6 cl of spirits).
- Exercise daily for at least the equivalent of 30 minutes of brisk walking per day (take the stairs instead of elevator, walk or cycle instead of using the car where possible ...).
- To conclude, treat yourself and eat a bit of everything but within reason. »
